Indonesia-Fiji Sign MoU on Defence Cooperation

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Indonesia's Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu received Fiji's Defence Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola in Central Jakarta on Friday morning.

Ryamizard and Kubuabola discussed a number of bilateral defence issues. The two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bilateral defence collaborations.

"The MoU consists of visits between security agencies and armed forces, dialogues on defence issues and military strategies, capacity building programs through seminars and trainings as well as intelligence information exchange," Ryamizard said.

"Fiji is an important partner in the Pacific regions," Ryamizard added.

Kubuoabola mentioned that Fiji and Indonesia are close partners. He appreciated stronger relations between the two archipelagic countries. 

"This friendship is quite historic for Fiji. Indonesia is very experienced on maritime defense sector" Kubuabola said.

"We implement consistent policy regarding Papua issue. We respect Indonesia's sovereignty in Papua," Kubuabola stated.
