Foreign Ministry Confirms Aung San Suu Kyi's Visit Cancelation

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi canceled her visit to Indonesia.

"She canceled her visit to Indonesia due to domestic issues," said Foreign Ministry information and public diplomacy director general Esti Handayani in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/29).

"She initially planned to visit Indonesia on December 2-3," she continued.

Myanmar soldiers razed Rohingya villages in Rakhine province over the last few weeks. Myanmar officials claimed Rohignya militants attacked government buildings.

Muslim organizations held protests outside the Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta last week. They demanded Aung San Suu kyi to end the violence against Rohingya people in Rakhine.
