No Indonesian Casualties in Mexico Quake

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring the situation after a 8.2 earthquake in Mexico's Chiapas state.

"There are no reports of Indonesian casualties," the Foreign Ministry's official twitter account said.

"According to the official data, about 289 Indonesians are in Mexico, around 190 of them are in Mexico City," it added.

The powerful earthquake struck offshore in the Pacific late Thursday. The strong earthquake triggered tsunami warnings in a number of regions.

The epicenter of the quake was  about 120 kilometers southwest of the town of Tres Picos in far southern Chiapas state. The depth of the quake was about 33 kilometers below the surface.
