Jokowi Postpones Australia Visit
President Joko Widodo (Photo: Antara/Andika Wahyu), Jakarta: President Joko Widodo has postponed his visit to Australia. Jokowi initially planned to visit Australia on November 6-8.

"President Jokowi has called PM Turnbull to convey the postponement of this visit," said the Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir in a written statement on Saturday (11/5).

"The President has also tasked the Indonesian Foreign Minister to discuss with her Australian counterpart to discuss new dates for the visit in the near future," he continued.

Several Islamic organizations staged Peaceful protest in Jakarta on Friday (11/4) afternoon. However,the protest turned violent in the evening.

"Current development has required the President to stay in Indonesia," he stated.

The protesters demanded the police to charge Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama for religious blasphemy.
