Indonesia to Highlight Regional Security in IORA Ministerial Meeting

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Maintaining security in the Indian Ocean and strengthening cooperation between Indian Ocean countries will be Indonesia's focus in the upcoming Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Council of Ministers.

"Indonesia sees potential conflicts in several Indian Ocean countries," said the Foreign Ministry's director general for Asia-Pacific and African affairs Desra Percaya in Jakarta on Tueesday (10/11).

"We also want to strengthen economic cooperation between member countries," he continued.

Indonesia will host the IORA Council of Ministers on October 22-27 in Bali. It will discuss preparations for the IORA Summit next year in Jakarta.

"We will complete IORA Concord on October 22-23 in Bali," he stated.

Indonesia will also conduct a two plus two meeting with Australia on the sidelines of the IORA Council of Ministers.
