Jokowi Bids Farewell to Obama at ASEAN-US Summit

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: United States (US) President Barack Obama joined the 4th ASEAN-US Summit in Vientiane, Laos on Thursday, September 8, 2016. 

It was his last US-ASEAN Summit before stepping down from his position next year.

President Joko Widodo bid farewell to Obama during the summit. He urged both sides to maintain strong relations.

"I believe President Obama will continue to promote ASEAN-US cooperation," Jokowi said.

Meanwhile, Obama shared his experience in Southeast Asia. He reiterated the importance of the region.

"I visit Southeast Asia more often than previous US presidents," he highlighted.

"It reflects the importance of ASEAN and the region," he concluded.
