Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo said ASEAN-China partnership must contribute to the peace and  stability in the South China Sea.

ASEAN leaders met with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang at the 19th ASEAN-China Summit in Vientiane, Laos on Wednesday, September 7, 2016.

"All parties must exercise restraint. All parties must prioritize peaceful solution," Jokowi said as quoted by Palace press bureau chief Bey Machmudin in a press release.

"The Code of Conduct (CoC) must be completed immediately," Jokowi continued.

He appreciated the implementation of the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES) in the South China Sea as well as the creation of hotline communication between officials from related countries.

"I believe the implementation of CUES and hotline communication can maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea," he stated.
