Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: British Minister for Asia and The Pacific Alok Sharma is visiting Indonesia to boost trade relations between the two countries.

"Southeast Asia is a key region for the United Kingdom (UK)," said Sharma in Jakarta on Tuesday (10/11).

"We are trade and economic partners. We also cooperate to maintain peace and security in the region," he continued.

He mentioned the UK wants to be global leader in free trade. UK citizens recently voted to exit the European Union (EU).

"We are ready to increase trade relations with Indonesia," he stated.

Sharma will attend ASEAN-European Union Ministerial Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand later this week.
