Two Indonesian Hostages Return to Their Families

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Indonesian government has officially handed over the two former hostages Muhammad Sofyan and Ismail to their families.

The handover ceremony was conducted on Saturday, August 27. The ceremony was closed for media.

"They requested privacy," Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday (8/29/2016).

Retno added the remaining Indonesian hostages in the southern Philippines are in good condition.

"Hopefully, we can rescue the remaining hostages soon. We have received new information. However, I cannot yet reveal it," she explained.

Muhammad Sofyan and Ismail escaped from Abu Sayaff militants in southern Philippines on August 17. They arrived in Indonesia on August 26.
